International Child Rights Ministry
Welcome to the
International Child Rights Ministry
Needs over the continents
All across the globe, there are children that do not have the chance to reach their full potential. Aspects like education, healthcare, shelter, food and drink are necessities that are atypical in some parts of each continent and nation. ICRM believes that every child matters and vows to aid the battle against child poverty and pledges to empower all those who need it.
According to the World Bank, about 9.2% of the world, or 719 million people, live in extreme poverty, on less than $2.15 a day.
These numbers are calculated based on income and a person’s ability to meet basic needs. However, when looking beyond income to people experiencing deprivations in health, education, and living standards, 1.2 billion people in 111 developing countries are multidimensionally poor, according to a 2022 U.N. Development Programme report.
Your Basic Rights
Non-discrimination
Non- Discrimination: Every child deserves equal opportunities to reach their full potential. Every child should be treated fairly regardless of their defining characteristics of identity, gender, sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, physical appearance, ability, socio-economic status, nationality, creed, ideology, or other personal identities. More often children from marginalised communities are often subjected to discrimination and inequality. ICRM will work with disadvantaged children or victims of discrimination (disabled children, refugees, children from minority communities).
Family
Every child has the right to live in a loving nurturing environment, free from violence, child abuse and child exploitation. ICRM will help raise educational programs and awareness to help reinforce safe family and community living for the benefits of children. ICRM values family and community living and will work together with families and children to prevent children from separating from families unless the family-environment harms the child.
Health
Every child has the right to life, and that includes having access to healthcare, food, clothing, clean water, electricity and a safe environment to live. The ICRM will ensure that vulnerable children learn healthy habits in their homes and schools to help decrease preventable health conditions. The ICRM will also offer and encourage children to have physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual health support if needed.
Protection
Every child has the right to be protected from abuse, exploitation, trafficking, sexual abuse, and any form of child right violations. The ICRM will empower vulnerable children on how to seek legal and medical help if they get abused. ICRM will ensure children can complain to third parties, get child abuse compensation and taking practical steps toward rebuilding their lives. ICRM will work with local Child Protection Committees (CPC) to help monitor and report child rights violations.
Identity
Every child is different through their defining characteristics of race, ethnicity, gender, sex, disability, culture, faith, social position, interest and achievement. A sense of identity shapes a child’s self-image, provides a sense of belonging and fosters caring for others. Most children derive self-worth, self-confidence, self-expression and pride from understanding their identity. However, in some communities, children’s identities are questioned and threatened, affecting their probability of a brighter future. ICRM will allow children to understand their identity and difference, which can help decrease child social injustices, and enable opportunities for equity and a fair world for every child.
Freedom of Thought
Every child has the right to freely express themselves, share their thoughts and opinions without infringing on the freedom of others. The ICRM will provide spaces and resources for children to engage in open dialogue and critical thinking on matters that affect them. This could involve ICRM creating discussion groups, debating clubs, and providing access to books and other materials that encourage independent thinking.
Education
Every child has the right to education. ICRM will reach out to disadvantaged children to ensure their right to free primary education is protected and highly upheld within their communities. ICRM will create opportunities where children can learn about their responsibilities in their communities. ICRM will teach children the importance of developing skills, talent discovery, and learning to respect others’ autonomy, rights and differences.
Access to Information
Every child has a right to access free information through various means. This will allow children to access educational resources and keep up to date with news and current events in the country and the globe at large.
Privacy
Every child has a right to privacy. Children’s personal information, communication, reputation and family life must be protected.
The Arts
Every child has the right to rest, play and to engage in cultural and creative art that is unpopular or controversial. The CRM will provide opportunities for children to participate in artistic activities such as music, dance, and theatre. This will help them to develop their creativity and self-expression
Reparation
Every child victim has a right to receive legal support and fair treatment from the government and community. The ICRM is geared at supporting children’s victims who suffer abuse, neglect, or other forms of mistreatment in order to restore their identity and dignity. This could involve setting up a fund providing financial assistance to children victims and their families affected by child rights violations.
Government Responsibility
Every child has the right to know their child rights. The government is responsible to ensure that children know about their rights. ICRM aims to advocate for governments to enact and enforce laws protecting child rights of children. This could involve ICRM engaging with policymakers and partnering with other organisations to raise awareness of child rights and child rights issues.
